Craig Balch Named Johnson County Dean of Students at Hill College

CLEBURNE, TEXAS— Hill College welcomes Craig Balch as the Johnson County dean of students. Balch began his role with the college on Sept. 16, 2020.

As the dean of students, Balch is responsible for providing leadership that includes planning, evaluating, developing and managing the overall operations of assigned student service areas in both Cleburne and Burleson. He will be working closely with the student services staff and other members of the community to develop extra-curricular programming that integrates the academic life of the institution while also encouraging student personal growth and development. In addition, the dean of students sponsors the Student Government Association and supervises the Campus Safety department at the Johnson County Campus.

Balch boasts an impressive resume including, serving as an advisor, testing coordinator, director of student life and an associate dean. The dean of students requires a solid understanding of all services available to students to be proficient. Balch brings the necessary experience to Hill College with over 25 years in higher education while fulfilling a range of student services positions.

Balch received a bachelor of science degree in psychology from Texas A&M University and a master's degree from East Texas State University in counseling with an emphasis on student affairs and personnel in higher education. He grew up in Bedford, Texas, and is excited to be back in the area after living in central and west Texas. Having grown up in north Texas, Balch is a fan of all the professional metroplex sports teams. He also enjoys fishing and playing Bridge. He and his wife have two children.
